STUDENT WWOOFING PROGRAM
The Permaculture Institute is offering a Free
Permaculture and Horticulture Skills Training Program in conjunction with wwoofing.
Basic Information
- Accommodation: On-site caravans or camping.
- Bedding: We can hire you bedding. Cost $25 per week. Must be turned in for washing once a week. We encourage you to BYO bedding.
- Camping Equipment: Tents and sleeping bags available. Cost $25 per week.
- Children: Property not suited to children.
- Food: Self-catering kitchen stocked with plenty of mixed-diet foods.
- Hands-on practical work time: See schedule.
- Internet: Wireless. Free
- Laundry: Twin tub washing machine, outdoor clothesline.
- Location: 18 km west of Wynyard.
- Maximum Stay: Three months.
- Minimum Stay: Two weeks.
- Telephone service: Telstra mobile is the only service available.
- Toilets: Outdoor drop toilets.
- Showers: Hot showers.
Our Requirements - Please Read - This is Important
- You must arrive on a “start date” as listed in the calendar between the hours of noon and 5.00 pm. Due to health and safety reasons - failure to arrive on the designated start date and time will mean you will not be allowed to stay
- All forms need to be completed, received and approved.
- Good attitude and easy going.
- Have current tetanus immunisation.
- Stamina and endurance.
- Telephone interview conducted.
- Written or verbal acceptance into program for the specified time.
- Must be a current Wwoofing Association member.
What to Bring
- Good quality, rugged gloves – rubberised combined with cloth style are recommend and we recommend you have a minimum of two pairs to use.
- Headlamp with batteries.
- Personal toiletries.
- Towel.
- Sleeping bag (if not hiring).
- Specialised dietary requirements and foods.
- Sturdy shoes which are comfortable and weather proof.
- Sturdy, durable, protective clothing.
- Suitable farm attire.
- Sun hat and rain hat.
- Sunscreen.
- Warm woollen hats and clothes for cold weather.
- Wet weather gear.
What you need to know
- Animals may be killed on site for food or vermin control.
- Food is from mixed sources. Not all from the property and not all of it is organic.
- Redline bus does stop 300m away. Schedule can be viewed on the web site. It is not a daily service or even convenient.
- Telstra is the only mobile service available.
- There are safety and other inductions which will be presented upon arrival. The contents of which you must agree with and adhere to.
- There is no daily trip to town. A weekly trip may be organised.
